Pama International – Brand, CD artwork’s and website:
Long-time friends and muso’s Sean Flowerdew and Finny set up Pama International. Their sound is an eclectic mix-up for today and beyond. They have managed to combine old time ska, reggae soul and funk with a modern twist.
I worked alongside brand genius Chris Ruffles to create a look and feel for the band. With Chris’s keen eye for branding and my musical understanding we created a truly awesome logo that has a real retro yet modern feel, with unlimited colour possibilities. The logo has a real “sew on badge feel” and could easily be found on any Mod/Soul boy’s denim jacket or talc bag!
The pama brand was then developed for the first Pama CD and subsequently developed for the website . I worked up basic illustrations but having had difficulty getting the band members together at one time, the illustration gave a somewhat alter ego, rather than clearly defining the band.
Soon after the site launch Pama released their first 7” vinyl in France . They wanted to capture a transatlantic feel, so by taking the 1 st CD cover and brand that Chris had developed, the 7” designs soon fell into place.
2004 saw the release of the second CD. Miles Donavan was commissioned to create the front cover illustration. I then developed the remaining designs for the back cover, inner sleeve and a lovely vinyl illustration for the CD. [view 2nd album artwork]
I’m currently working on the new website, which is hopefully going to be based on the new and 3rd album which I recently finished designing; other work has included various flyers for the band the latest can be viewed here.
