Mirashade 2000 to date:
I am currently employed by Mirashade as a Senior New Media Developer. In this role I have been given the freedom and flexibility to manage myself and have therefore had to exercise personal management and discipline. I have worked well both independently and as part of a creative team, depending on the nature of the job. My responsibilities have included: running initial client meetings, budgeting, scheduling, proposals and creative treatments, project development and ensuring final delivery. The creative work has been just as varied. My key projects have included; website development, layouts, css, javascript, design and optimisation of graphics, animation and actionscript, creation of interactive CD-ROMS produced in both director and flash.

Below is a small selection of the work produced over the last few years at Mirashade. To see some of the latest work visit the Mirashade website, or further example can be sent on request.

Mirashade - website:
I worked alongside the other designers and developers to produce the flash elements of the site. The plan was to go 100% accessible, and in order to make sure the flash fell into strict xhtml guidelines; we used the somewhat new method of embedding the flash using "Flash Satay". Having created the layouts for the image holder and video holder, I developed the actionscript to load the images from the database, and created a rather funky loading feedback for the video player. This plays clearly defined segments of the video until it is 100% loaded. [view website]

Leekes department store - website:
This was a classic case of jumping in at the deep end and learning to swim rather rapidly. I worked alongside the senior designer and creative director. Our task was to make the site as accessible as possible without compromising the design. It was very important to make sure the html would be read in a very specific order for visually impaired people. A prime example is the drop down menus. They actually reside at the very bottom of the html and therefore allow partially blind people to read the rest of the page before trawling through every possible link. I spent a good week researching accessibility, accessibility law, human rights and other related topics. [visit website]

Power house films - website:
A great fun flash site, built in flash 5 and again all elements were coded by hand, by me. I worked on initial layouts with the designer, the continued to create the remaining layouts. The characters are built and generated by actionscript allowing the users to build their own characters at a later date. I worked on all animations and sound effects. There is also a cookie feature that allows you to log on to the site, where you are then given a tour by a butler who remembers you name every time you come back. [view website]

Evotec - CD-ROM:
Evotec is a pharmaceutical company, creating solutions for its clients from simple manufacture of pharmaceuticals to creation, development and manufacture of new drugs. I worked wit the designers to produce a CD-ROM that reflected this broad range of solutions, and emphasised their cutting edge approach.

The navigation was based on Evotec's logo, and drug discovery. The technical aspects of the CD-ROM are a cutting edge as Evotec's approach. I developed a set of further information buttons that appeared to be embedded in the videos giving the user the options for further information, or still photographs. [view Screen shots]

Fire Safety Training - CD-ROM:
Fire Safety Training wanted to produce a training CD-ROM they could sell on to small sized business helping them train their staff in fire awareness. Although not involved in the first version of the CD-ROM, I took on all the new functional changes the client had, these changes would allow the end user to save their results to an extra-net website. Working along side the web developers I coded the required lingo functionality, allowing the CD-ROM to work in the new manor.

Some of the rest:

Interactive-experience 1998-2000:

Shortly after my graduation in 1998 from De Montfort University I joined Interactive-experience (a subsidiary of 2 Heads Global design). I was responsible for website design and development, animation, basic video edits, creation of interactive CD-ROMS and kiosk presentations. It was here I first gained experience with blue chip companies such as B.T, Cabletron, Eidos, Hallmark, NTL, National car rental/ALAMO, Samsung, Trafficmaster tm, WorldPay PLC and Virgin biz.net. Here is a sample of some of the work I produced during this time:

Samsung Storage - website:
I worked closely with the client and other designers to create several initial concepts. Once the final direction was chosen I was responsible for:

  • All pages designs
  • Worked closely with the 3D designers on the "virtual rooms", creating graphic elements and wraps for all the environments.
  • Once the designs were signed off a fellow colleague and I developed and built the final site.
